The demand for properties on the Costa Brava has risen exponentially. And it is that many citizens of Barcelona and surroundings have felt the need to have a home outside the city where they can spend weekends, vacations or even longer stays.

Something that may not have been considered to this extend before teleworking became normal.

Sales of second homes near the beach, specifically on the Catalan coast, have been consolidating since the second quarter of the year. Especially during this summertime we have seen a significant increase.

The foreign buyer also continues to show interest in buying properties in the coastal areas. Despite the pandemic, many are looking to buy with the intention of spending longer periods in summer or even to retire. We highlight the strong presence of French, German Dutch and Belgian buyers.

What properties are the most requested?

The houses with the greatest demand are those that have a garden, enjoying sea views and that are located in municipalities close to the coast.

On top of this, the property needs to have a good size, and featuring at least 3 bedrooms. The size of the property is a factor that has gained much importance after the confinement. Now families want more space than before.
